The Rotarians in the Santa Clarita Rotary Club have never been ones to turn away from a challenge. So when the SCV Food Pantry said they had a greater need than last year, due to the downturn in the economy, Rotarians stepped up to help.
This year the Rotary Club gave out 250 turkeys to needy families living in the Santa Clarita area. People were lined up around the block to receive their Thanksgiving turkey and other food items. Albertson's market gave an exceptional price for the turkeys, and Newhall Ice agreed to store them for several days until they could be given out. Each family was given a voucher, and there were enough turkeys for everyone who showed up. You can read more about this in the article published by The Signal and written by Michele E. Buttelman.
